ABOUT HOMERO MANZI
HOMERO MANZI
Located in the traditional neighborhood of Boedo, the legendary Esquina Homero Manzi stands as one of the historic temples of tango in Buenos Aires. Situated at the iconic intersection of San Juan and Boedo, this corner was immortalized by the poet and lyricist Homero Manzi, who transformed the neighborhood into a symbol of nostalgia and urban poetry.
With its classic porteño architecture, the building has long been a gathering place for musicians, writers, and tango lovers. Since the mid-20th century, it has operated as a traditional café and tango house, hosting unforgettable performances. Great figures of tango such as Aníbal Troilo, Roberto Goyeneche, Edmundo Rivero, and Tita Merello graced its stage, leaving an indelible mark on the history of the genre.
Recognized as a site of cultural interest, Esquina Homero Manzi preserves the essence of old Buenos Aires. Its stained-glass windows, historic bar, and intimate atmosphere evoke the golden age of tango, while its contemporary performances keep the tradition alive with live orchestras, renowned singers, and world-class dancers.
Today, visiting Esquina Homero Manzi is far more than attending a show — it is an immersion into the living history of tango and the cultural identity of Buenos Aires.
The show at Esquina Homero Manzi offers an authentic experience that combines history, music, and passion in one of Buenos Aires’ most iconic venues. In an intimate setting filled with tradition, the performance explores the essence of tango — from its deepest roots to its most contemporary expressions.
Featuring a live orchestra, acclaimed singers, and a distinguished company of professional dancers, the show brings to the stage the elegance, intensity, and sensuality that define Argentine tango. Each choreographic piece tells a fragment of Buenos Aires’ story, evoking its neighborhoods, love stories, and the nostalgia that gave birth to this universal genre.
The close proximity to the stage, the excellent acoustics of the hall, and the historic charm of the building create a unique atmosphere that transports the audience to tango’s golden age. Carefully produced, the show blends tradition and modernity, offering an unforgettable evening for both first-time visitors and true tango enthusiasts.
